"Genome" Camp at IMAS

March 16, 2010

"Genome" Camp - The field of genetic study has increased in importance in the last few years. Thanks to several studies such as the Human Genome Project and other genetic mapping projects we now have a better understanding about our genetics including inherited traits such as hair color and even diseases. Genes are what make us who we are, whether we have red hair or brown hair blue eyes or brown eyes is all embedded in our genetic map. In this class students will get a hands-on opportunity to explore this exciting field while learning a lot about themselves, their family, and their genetic heritage. Children ages 10 - 14. Registration begins February 28, 2010. Classes are from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. March 16-19 at the International Museum of Art & Science, 1900 Nolana Avenue, McAllen.
